About Kathryn

Helping schools tell their story through creative design.

For more than 20 years, I've been helping organisations communicate who they are through thoughtful, purposeful design. I spent over nine years running a successful branding and graphic design agency, creating corporate identities and marketing materials for commercial businesses, before discovering where my passion truly belonged.

It started when I was asked to design a new logo for a local sixth form college, followed by a project to help a primary school bring its core values to life. I quickly realised that schools needed more than just great design. They needed someone who understood how creativity could strengthen identity, build community and inspire children to feel proud of where they belong.

That's how School Postcards began.

Over the years, what started as a business creating bespoke postcards for schools has grown into something much bigger. Today, Created for Schools reflects the full range of creative services I offer, from school branding and learning environments to recognition and rewards, all brought together through my Pupil Powered Design approach.

I believe the best ideas come from involving the people who matter most: the children. Whether it's developing characters from pupils' own drawings, running creative workshops or gathering ideas during assemblies, I encourage pupil involvement wherever possible. It creates a genuine sense of ownership and helps ensure the finished project truly reflects the school's community.

Nothing gives me greater satisfaction than seeing children walk into a space they've helped shape, proudly wear a badge they've inspired or recognise themselves in a school's identity. Those moments remind me that good design isn't just about making something look beautiful. It's about creating belonging, celebrating individuality and leaving a lasting impact.

Alongside my work with schools, I'm passionate about championing creativity in education. Creative thinking builds confidence, encourages problem solving and helps children see the world from different perspectives, skills that will stay with them long after they leave the classroom.

I'm fully DBS checked and have also volunteered as a business mentor with Young Enterprise, supporting young people as they develop their ideas and confidence for the future.
